On 20 June 2009, ARRS in conjunction with the Alabama Wildlife
Center @ Oak Mountain State Park held the 1st Annual Alabama
Reptile & Amphibian Conservation Expo. It was a tremendous
success. The Expo featured over 25 native species of amphibians
& reptiles, including a rarely seen Slender Glass lizard, 4 types of
venomous snakes found in Alabama, and a unique display of the
life cycle of a frog.
We had a great turn out that day. Thanks to the Alabama Wildlife
Center and all who attended. Below are some pictures from our
event:
Spring is baby time, and we have had quite a few: Five
lined skinks, Dekays Brown Snakes, and Ring-necked
Snakes. All the babies came from reptiles we had on
display for the Expo. All adults and babies were returned
to the wild where they came from.
Northern Brown Snakes give live birth. We're not sure which one had the babys. There were 23!
